Applying Organizational Behavior Concepts
The fundamental of a “surper-star” company is the “employee”. Many would think that a company is as successful as the product its sells. But, the real success comes from the employees. Employees who work efficiently and collectively produce the marvelous contributions to the company, benefiting the company as a whole. However, because of our humanly nature, employees need motivation and incentive to be 100% perfect. This is where “Organisational Behavior” becomes useful.
The Saudi Arabia Football Federation seems to have recently studied “Organization Behavior”. To take a step further, they have decided to apply it to the national team. They decided to award “prizes” to player who showed skills and discipline during the period of Nov 9th to March 1st in which the team had friendly games, and training camps.
The SR 5,000 award for high skills ( listening to coach’s instruction, playing well during training, and playing well in friendly games ) went to Mohammad Al Daeyea. The second place of the same award went to Mohammad Ameen Haider who received SR 3,000 and the last place to Muhammad Massad of SR 2,000.
The SR 2,500 award for discipline went to Muhammad AL-Shalhoub, Reda Tukr, Abdul Aziz Al Khathran, Abdul Latif Al Ghanam, Mustafa Maleaka, and Muhammad Massad.
This is the first time not all the Saudi players have been rewarded. In previous times, the whole team was rewarded, thereby not distinguishing between the best performer and least performer. With this “rewarding mechanism” the Saudis have taken a new step to improving a team that has so many problems.
How effective is it? In the business world, job compensation have been effective. So I don’t think why it shouldn’t work on the “world of football”
