Location: Salzburg, Austria

Expected Line up and formation: 4-5-1 & Zaid, Muntashiri, Tukar, Dhoki, Al Khatran, Al Ghamdi, Aziz, Khariri, Nawaf, Noor and Al Qahtani

Top Personality: Prince Nawaf, Vice President of the Saudi Football federation will be present during the game.

Preparation Game for: Ukraine and Spain

Paqueta: (arriyidiyah, May 26th)

Don’t quickly judge the Saudi players after today’s game against Czech Republic.

The players are responding well to my game tactics and instructions and understand its importance.

In response to why he is not playing against an easier team, he said:

We are playing against a second ranked ream so we can have a good friendly game. We wouldn’t benefit playing easier teams.

Training Progress: Players are now 70% physically ready. Paqueta, divided the players into the start-up team and the back-up team. For the first time throughout training, startup team won against the back-up team 1-0 through a goal from Malek Muass.

Biggest concern: Saudi players are on average smaller in age and less experienced than the Czech players.

[...] In a few hours the Czech Republic faces Saudi Arabia. This will be my first chance to Saudi Arabia in a few years so I will be interested in seeing how they compete with one of the tournament’s big boys. [...]

So we conceded a penalty too at the end. Final result is 2-0 for Czech. I have a feeling the match was a good one for our side specially because we didn’t field some regulars for too long. Just a hunch at this point. What do you guys think? Did anyone see the match?

I didnt get to see any live feed as well, i just went to worldcup.com and kept refreshing the web page. I was a bit startled to see the last minute goal by czech republic, which was a penalty kick anyway.

Czech Republic is a pretty good team, so a 1 – 0 score till the end was pretty good for saudi arabia, but then again the czech team could have been playing carefully to avoid injuries.

I must add this, the saudi team seems a lot better that what it was four years back; but they have to improve a little bit more to reach the second round.

Since they face B+ teams in this world cups first round (instead of the A teams they faced in the previous world cups), the odds of them reaching the second round are pretty good.

what really bothered me in today’s match was omar alghamdi who was playing very terribly through our the game. The team’s defence also needs to focus more. And the offence needs to be reenforced. The mid-field did an amazing job as I see it.

However, all in all, our team did pretty well considering they weren’t playing with the complete first team. I’m not totally happy with the score, but i’m not upset either.
