Iraq draws with Saudi Arabia in the last minute
Saudi Arabia drew with Iraq 2-2 in a friendly game played today as part of the World Cup 2006 preparation. For Saudi Arabia, Nawaf al Temyat (18) and Sami Jaber(58) scored while for Iraq, Muhammad Naser(28) and Haider Abdul Ameer(90) scored.
The Saudis had a larger control of the game during the beginning of the game, but the playing concentrated on the middle of the field with little threat to both side’s goal. In the 18th minute, Nawaf Al Temyat was successful to score from a long distance shot after breaking the Iraqi defense was so hard. Then on the 28th minute, the Iraqi international who plays in Cyprus scored from a surprise shot outside the penalty box.
In the second half, the Saudis were able to control the midfield with the help of Nawad al Temyat. He at one point passed the ball to Muhammad Anbar who passed it along to Sami Jaber who scored. After the second goal Paqueta substituted players. This didn’t help much, as Iraq equalized in the last moment.
