Saudi Arabia vs. Czech Republic

May 21st, 2006 | By: Shahed | 20 Comments »

On May 26th, all our eyes will be towards the most important game of Saudi Arabia’s training journey to the World Cup against Czech Republic, ranked 2nd by FIFA globally.

I can’t wait to hear from what people think of the game and predictions for the game.

“I think the game would be one great game to vision the preparation level of the team. I think the game will be tied: 1-1! “ – Shahed

Ok, let’s hear what you think?

Believe me USA, Italy and Ghana will be watching this game very closely as well. As for a projection, I don’t think Saudi Arabia will be able to hold off the Czechs. Good luck though!

if Daeyea is the goal keeper , than the score will be 3-0… or if its Zaid , than it will be 2-1 lose to KSA….. Czech is a good team!

Paq choosing Da’aya as his number one keeper is a massive Joke, even more than Dominich’s (Frnce’s coach) choice of Bartez..

Another issue IMO is who do we play as center forward (no. 9) ? For all his skill and potential, I really don’t see Yaser Qahtani as a center forward. He hasn’t been very efficient in front of the goal all season, as well as throughout the qualifiers and the friendlies to date. The fact that he is always heavily marked doesn’t help him either; therefore I believe he should play behind the main striker, in a supporting role where he can roam a bit more and use his skill/ball handling to set-up others.

I think we will get a draw and I think they should wear their white jersey. Historically, they brought good results for us when they wear the whites. And they look cool too. I don’t like the green. In my observation of at least the past 15 years, they play either bad or loose the game when they play in greens. So I think they should avoid that color.

Ok I understand how if the goal keeper is Dayea they give away more goals…

But if it is Zaid, they give away less AND they score a goal? Is Zaid going to score one as well?

hehehe.

Folks,

Lets be reasonable and avoid calling out names to others.

Humor is acceptable.

Saudi fan,

Good point. Yasser Al Qahtani has not been the same. Last year when he was at al Qadsawi, he scored and got so much attention. But, I still think, that he can cause problem to opponent’s defense. The game against Togo, he showed some dribbling skill and hopefully with world cup games getting so much attention, he would probably gives his best shot. Hope he passes the ball more.

Shahriyar Ali,

Deayea, after World Cup 2002 performance, showed the world that he is incapable of stopping easy balls. This is not ture to some of us, but what the world knows is that he can be scored at. For example, Czech would try to shoot more outside the penalty box knowing that Deayea is at the goal. For Zaid, maybe less and there is media excitement of him being a goalkeeper, as he let in so few goals during the qualifying games.

I noticed that every team has a goalkeeper that is senior. I meean by having Al Deayea, we have some expertise to our side.

I like Daeyea a lot, but I do think they should give Zaid a chance too. Daeyea makes stupid mistakes every now and then, but then all the players do the same. I still think Daeyea is one of the best keepers in the world. There is one thing that differs him from others, it’s his “never give up” attitude. No one can defeat him when he is having a good day.

I don’t know any of the newer guys in the team, but among all the previous players Majed, Khaled Mas’ad and him were the most down to earth type guys. Daeyea is very religious too.

I hope he will make a major impact in this worldcup to erase the memories of 2002 and end his career with a positive note.

And, don’t lecture about the 02’s German match. It wasn’t his fault. Rest of the players looked like they didn’t even want to play. Except for one Irish goal, all the goals came from defensive error. Our players have serious issue playing against high ball.

Finally, I am predicting the team will reach at least quarter final this time. Czech game will be very careful from both sides. Only few days left for the big show and no one wants to have any injury around this time.

I like Daeyea too, I just hope he plays well, like he did in 94.

I have not seen the new goalie play yet. If anyone has the address to a website that has video clips of saudi matches or highlights, I’d love to see it.

I could not see the togo match, I want to make sure that I dont miss the czech republic match.

i say the same thing….. he’s old now and have no tricks left as per to Daeyea in ‘94…. he was SUPERB! the thing changed now is that he jumps in the air if the opponent shoots the ball anywhere….ok.. now , some of them was asking about online stream to these matches…. go here –> http://streamsports.net

Saudi is not gonna know what hit them. Granted it’s a friendly, and nobody wants to risk any form of injury (which will actually help Saudi more than the czechs) Czech Republic is superior in every aspect.
The Saudis have everything to gain with the opportunity to practice against a team like Czechia before the world cup, but they will not be winning this game, much like they won’t be making it to the final 16 in
Germany.

I think saeed said it best:
“Czech game will be very careful from both sides. Only few days left for the big show and no one wants to have any injury around this time.”
Maybe this is the great chance for Saudi Arabia, because Czechs will take the match less serious than Saudis will - probably.
Let´s not put too much attention into friendlys, especially 2 weeks before the WC. What is a match worth, where 5 or 6 substitutions are normally.
Here in germany, we call those games “busdriver-matches”, because even the busdriver gets a chance to play for a couple of minutes.
Nevertheless those matches are important for the coach to see where each player yet has some problems.
Although we all hope that Saudi wins, friendly matches are mainly for the coach.
No matter how the czech match end, the truth will be seen in munich, on june 14. This is the day, when the result of preparation will be shown.
And Saudi Arabia will beat Tunisia, I am absolutely sure!

Take care, come to germany, support your team.

As saeed said: The quarter final is possible

Hey.. everytime i imagine saudi winning, it fades away . why.. its image is tainted and confidence is lost. 8-0 to Germany in 2002.. thats a “bit” too much.
I think saudi got a problem with any European team, it just once they face them they’re mentality drops to zero, as they get there confidence shaken.
Czech republic is a well fine strong team. and the prbability of saudi winnin the match is possible. u have to remember football is un-predictable sometimes.
about Yasser al-qahtani, i think he’s the rising star in saudi, and if i could really say something to the saudi team director, is only one thing, you want ur team to win, so stick to ur friggin coach. for that they’re the most team that keep changing their coach.. rediculous!

Martin,
why don’t u think that Saudi Arabia would be able win against Czech republic. i think that they have a good chance of winning and if they do then we could compare them to other teams that the Czech republic would play in the world cup.
