Interesting. So do you agree with the poll or do you think one of the other players is more of a rising star than Al Qahtan?

Well I do agree that he is the best striker for 2005. But the votes are not evenly distributed. This is because there are majority of online supporters for Yasser Al Qahtani and Saad Al Harthi. Eisa Al Mehyani who is the top scorer in the Saudi league is ranked last. How absurd is that? This poll gives the ranking of players based on popularity.

i agree popularity matters…but a person dont get popular just in a moment..most of the people around the world had a bad impression after the 20/01 world cup in KOREA/JAPAN when germany beat saudi arabia with 8 goals…as a result - after 4 years everyone was expecting ksa not to improve much.. So when they saw Al Qhatani’s performance in the world cup 06/in Germny: most of the people have some what changed their view for ksa team bcoz of yasser’s serious performance. so as a reward i think Al Qahtani deserves the vote as he removed the bad image they got frm Germany (and im sure Saudis are proud of him becoz of this)…and tht made him popular to gain the votes.(both by national and international fans) and another reason i see people voted him becoz yasser’s fetching persona reveals the fabulous future King of the team…
